On October 25, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a new Data Centre and an Enterprise Computing & Cybersecurity Training Institute for the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in Info Valley-II, near Bhubaneswar, Odisha. This large facility, covering 18.55 acres, is a significant step towards making India's financial systems more secure and reliable.

The project, which cost about 170 crore rupees, was started on March 22, 2023, when the foundation stone was laid by then RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das. The new data centre is designed to hold important payment and settlement systems and other key RBI operations. It will also act as a crucial backup to the RBI's main data centre in Navi Mumbai, helping to ensure that financial services continue even if there are problems.

The location in Jatni was chosen because it is geographically stable, meaning it is away from areas prone to earthquakes and international border regions. This helps protect the facility from natural disasters and other risks. The data centre is built to high global standards, with features that help it keep working even if some parts fail.

Alongside the data centre, the Enterprise Computing & Cybersecurity Training Institute will focus on teaching, research, and building skills in cybersecurity and technology. This training will help strengthen the abilities of people working across India's financial sector, especially in new areas like Artificial Intelligence and quantum computing. Dignitaries present at the inauguration included Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra, Odisha Governor Brajmohan Ram, and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
