The Rajasthan government has officially declared 80 tehsils in 14 districts as drought-hit. This decision was made after an assessment, which is a careful check, was carried out using the rules from the Centre's Drought Management Manual, 2016. This declaration will last for six months.
Among the affected areas, Jodhpur district has the highest number of drought-hit tehsils, with 12. Barmer and Jalore districts each have 10 tehsils that have been declared drought-hit. These declarations mean that these areas are facing severe water shortages.
To help with the problems caused by the drought, especially the lack of food for animals, measures are being taken. For example, in Barmer district, the district collector, Chinmayi Gopal, has approved the opening of 10 fodder depots in the first stage. Fodder depots are places where animal feed is stored and distributed.

Administrative Divisions (Tehsils)
In India, a tehsil is a type of administrative division that helps the government manage land, collect taxes, and provide services to people in a specific area. It is a smaller unit within a district, making it easier to organise and govern.
