Ukraine's Military Regains Full Starlink Satellite Connection
Ukraine's military has confirmed a stable connection to the Starlink satellite communication system, ten days after its use was restricted. This restoration follows concerns that speed limitations had affected military operations, including drone activities and logistics on the front lines.

On Saturday, October 24, 2026, the Ukrainian government announced that its military now has a "stable connection to Starlink." This news comes after the satellite communication system's use was suddenly restricted for about ten days.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked U.S. allies, including President Trump and the U.S. State Department, for helping to solve the problem. He shared in a video message that Starlink and Starshield, a military version, were working at their normal speeds again.
Earlier in the month, speed limits had been placed on the system, which reportedly affected Ukrainian combat missions. These restrictions, which limited operations to 160 km/h, were said to have made it harder for the military to stop Russian attack drones and led to some operations being cancelled.
Ukraine's Defense Minister Yevgeniy Khmara confirmed that monitoring systems showed the speed of Starlink/Starshield had recovered, now exceeding 400 km/h. He explained that this improved connection is very important for soldiers on the front lines, for drone operations, for moving supplies (logistics), and for general communication.

Satellite Communication
Satellite communication uses artificial satellites orbiting Earth to send and receive information. These satellites act like relay stations in space, allowing signals to travel long distances, even to remote areas where ground-based communication might be difficult or impossible. This technology is used for things like television broadcasts, phone calls, and internet access.
Logistics
Logistics in a military context refers to the careful planning and management of how resources, equipment, and personnel are moved, stored, and maintained. It includes everything from getting food and water to soldiers on the front lines, to transporting weapons and vehicles, and ensuring they are ready for use. Good logistics are essential for any military operation to succeed.
Drones in Warfare
Drones, also known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), are aircraft that can be flown without a pilot on board. In warfare, drones are used for many purposes, such as gathering information (reconnaissance), observing enemy positions, or even carrying weapons for attacks. They can operate in dangerous areas without risking human lives.
